Fun Sewing Projects for kids & Parents

Easiest Dress (or Shirt) Ever

These projects were tested on the road in the backyard sewing camp, which I ran last summer for a group of enthusiastic participants aged 6-12 - my children, Harry and Eva, included. I set out to design quick and simple art objects that would capture the children's imagination. A clothing item, a soft toy with its own sleeping place, a game, and a cute fob key seems to cover all the bases. The children agreed, and our camp held us in stitches for many happy hours. First, the easiest dress of a T-shirt ever: a few lines of sewing become an adult's tee to wear a cold and cold dress or shirt. For another style, add a monogram duplicated stencil.

An Easy-to-Sew Stuffed Pal

This project teaches children how to make a small pillow - leaving them with a new best friend.

Sleeping Bag for Stuffed Animals

Sew the perfect shelter for a favorite stuffed animal. If your kids have outgrown their flannel pjs, this is a great way to up-cycle them!

Make a Travel Tic-Tac-Toe Game

This portable mat game is dressed with button-playing pieces (taking a journey to choose them can be a fun part). If you want, make a small bag for them, using a thread felt cord or tape tie.

Cute Key Rings Kids Can Make

Design your shapes for these fobs or follow our patterns inspired by kawaii Japanese ("cute") style.
